More big rate cuts on the way
18 November 2008

Financial markets believe there is a 93 per cent chance of a one per cent interest rate cut in the first week in December. Markets have priced in an expectation that the Reserve Bank will slash official interest rates to 3.25 per cent by early in the new year. The governor of the Reserve Bank, Glenn Stevens last week attended a meeting of finance ministers and central bankers from the world’s leading economies. He is expected to outline the bank’s views on the deteriorating world economy in a series of speeches and releases this week.
